Human skull in church ceiling: DPP identifies culprits

The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions has said 49-year-old Samson Adeneye and a woman, Oyerinde Olawunmi, 48, have a case to answer in a matter in which a human skull was found in the ceiling of an orthodox church in Lagos.
Two policemen attached to the Special Anti-robbery Squad – ASP Franklin Alade and Cpl Deleojo Odunayo – were also implicated in the matter, for abuse of office.
PUNCH Metro had reported in July 2013, that a human skull was found in the ceiling of the St. Peter Cherubim and Seraphim band on Moses Adebisi Street, in the Ketu area of the state.
Prior to the incident, Adeneye and Olawunmi, who were former members of the band, were said to have sent threat text messages to some of the church’s ministers.
The two suspects were said to have accused the pastors of occultism and threatened to deal with them and kill them.
Both suspects were said to have alerted the two SARS officers that there was a case of gunrunning in the assembly.
The policemen reportedly stormed the assembly without any search warrant and headed for the ceiling where they allegedly found the item.
Our correspondent learnt that further investigations by the police revealed that the two former members might have arranged the object to implicate the ministers, as suggested by earlier text messages sent to them.
They were subsequently arrested and arraigned before a Surulere Magistrate’s Court on charges of unlawful possession of human head.
The matter had been adjourned for DPP’s advice.
The DPP in its advice, signed by the Deputy Director, Adegboyega Bajulaiye, said, “After carefully considering the facts available in the duplicate case file, this office is of the view that there are sufficient facts to establish a prima facie case of conspiracy to commit felony to wit; offering violence to officiating ministers of religion, written threat to kill and publication of false news which is likely to cause fear and alarm to the public….
“Facts available in the duplicate case file reveal that prior to January 19, 2013, there was a malice that brewed up over the years between Apostle Albert Samson and Samson Adeneye, which culminated into unauthorised search on the premises of Albert by men of SARS, led by ASP Franklin Alade, on the trumped-up allegation of gunrunning. This act of the police officers, which was believed to have been instigated by Adeneye, amount to abuse of office….”
The advice further stated that the two defendants had been sending death threat messages to the ministers, which were meant to distract them from their duties as ministers.
On the matter of the skull, the advice said, “There is however a strong inference from the facts in the case file that Adeneye may have been instrumental to placing ritual objects, including human skulls, on the ceiling of Albert’s church because of his prior accusation of Albert being a ritualist. This will only amount to speculation and suspicion, which no matter how grave, cannot stand in the place of law, particularly in the absence of eyewitness account or unequivocal evidence of inference.”
The DPP said based on its findings, Adeneye and Olawunmi, should be arraigned for conspiracy to commit felony, written threat to kill and publication of false news.
Four other suspects were ordered to be released, if still in police custody.
The magistrate, Mrs. A.O Adedayo, adjourned the matter till July 1, 2014.

Beyonce’s fading tattoo sparks troubled marriage speculations

Since the video of Solange attacking Jay Z in an elevator was leaked, people have been scrutinizing Beyonce and Jay Z’s marriage. Now, they have noticed that the tattoo on Beyonce’s wedding finger is fading, sparking speculation that she’s been lasering it off.
Beyonce had tattooed the numeral IV (4) on her left finger in 2008, a symbol of her birthday (Sept. 4), Jay Z’s birthday (Dec. 4), and their wedding (April 4) but in recent pics of the star, the tattoo is gradually fading…and now people are asking if all is well in the Knowles-Carter household. They’ve been together for over 12 years…I have a feeling they will be together for a long time to come

See The Full Detail on how Borno Villagers Kill 200 and Capture 10 Boko Haram Terrorists In Borno

More details are coming in on how the Civilian-JTF, civilian vigilantes staved off a Boko Haram attack and possible abduction in Kalabalge local government, northeast Borno state, near the Cameroonian border.

The villagers who were prepared for the Boko Haram attack had dug out trenches for the purpose. The Rann village, located in the middle of a Boko Haram strong-hold, had been attacked by Boko Haram in the recent past. In that attack they had allegedly acquired two light-weight armored tanks and some AK47 rifles. They refused to turn in this ammunition to the government in an increasingly common response as more villages in the north are determined to take up arms to defend themselves in the current state of deadly insecurity. Continue…
The invading terrorists who launched an early Tuesday morning attack on Rann, Shuwa and neighboring villages, were met by a strong and determined villager resistance. Over 200 terrorists were killed. The full number of the dead is not yet known as the villagers ran in pursuit of the escaping and injured terrorists into the bushes to continue their extermination.

We’ll rescue Chibok girls, FG insists

The Federal Government yesterday declared that it  will go to any length to secure the release of the over 200 schoolgirls abducted by terrorist sect, Boko Haram from Government Girls’ Secondary Scool, Chibok in Borno State.
This was even as female ministers in the Federal Executive Council condemned the abduction of the girls a month ago, describing it as heinous crime.
The Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, while stating that the government had established a central information centre on the abduction of the Chibok girls from where the Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Mike Omiri would pass on information to the media, said: “We are ready to go to any length to secure the release of these our unfortunate daughters that have been in captivity. Everything is being done in relation to every operational measures that will be taken particularly by the Nigerian armed Forces in collaboration with foreign assistance that has been offered by different nations of the world.”

I will only marry someone who will forgive my adultery – Genevieve Nnaji

The journey of two people together for better or worse is never easy.

But with complete dedication, love and tolerance for each other, the challenges that may beset the marriage can be overcome.

Genevieve Nnaji is yet to get married and explains what her criteria are for choosing her right partner:

“As for marriage, it’s every woman’s dream to get married. We can’t lie to ourselves. I do want to get married but overtime I have had opportunities to get married but I realize getting married is not actually the problem. The problem is finding someone you are compatible with because I’m born Catholic, I’m raised Catholic, I don’t believe in divorce. If I get married, I really want to stay married and staying married is not an easy thing. It means you are completely in tune with your partner. It means you’ve found your soul mate because you’ll have to be able to stand a lot of disappointments that would definitely come but then again you have to learn to forgive.

For me, before I choose a partner I have to ask myself if this is the kind of person I would be willing to forgive no matter what when the time comes. If the answer is no, then that person is wrong for me. That person is not the person you want to get married to. If you know you can look into someone’s eyes and say yes, this is the most you can do to me. If you actually cheat on me the first time, I can find it in my heart to forgive you. If you can answer that question honestly and truthfully to yourself then you’ll know if that person is your partner or not. So compatibility is the word aside from the physical attributes that have to go with it. I need to be comfortable because I’m a woman and I’m used to a certain lifestyle.”

Even though the person may say they can forgive even when she cheats, can that be guaranteed? And will that not let some partners go ahead and cheat because they know they can be forgiven?

Soldiers went wild in Borno as GOC addresses them

Some soldiers on Wednesday went haywire while they were being addressed by some General Officers Commanding.
Contrary to rules of conduct, the soldiers fired shots during the address.
This led to pandemonium at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, where the soldiers were being addressed.
The shots were said to have been fired by the soldiers as a reaction to the arrival of the corpses of four of their colleagues who were shot dead during patrol duties in Chibok area of the state.
It was in Chibok that 234 schoolgirls of Government Girls Secondary School were abducted by members of dreaded sect, Boko Haram, on April 14.
The Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, who confirmed the development, said a Board of Inquiry would be set up by the 7 Division of the Nigeria Army to probe the incident.
Olukolade added: “There is calm in the cantonment and all normal operations activities are ongoing.”

FG hands over power plants to investors Monday

The Federal Government has said it would on Monday formally hand over the privatized power plants to private sector investors.
Vice President Namadi Sambo gave the assurance on Friday in Abuja during a special forum on financing the power sector reforms for economic development.
The forum, which was supported by the Central Bank of Nigeria and sponsored by Nigerian Deposit Money Banks, was aimed at reviewing the contribution of the banking sector to the reforms in the power sector.
Sambo, who is also the Chairman of the National Council on Privatization, said that all labour issues with workers of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria had been resolved.
To this end, he added that the payment of severance, pensions and gratuities of all the 47,913 workers would be settled on Friday (yesterday).
He said, “At the inception of the privatisation programme, a total of 25 generating companies and 54 distribution companies sent in bids. After a rigorous and screening process, five bidders for the Gencos and 10 bidders for the Discos were successful.
“The relevant government agencies have since February 2013 signed the transaction document. The winning bidders have also paid their bids in two instalments of 25 per cent and 75 per cent by the end of August 2013.
“With their full payment of the transaction amount, the stage is now set for the formal handing over of the generation and distribution companies on Monday 30 September, 2013.
“Another major success of the transaction was the successful resolution of all labour issues. The agreement reached is being implemented and payment of severance, pensions and gratuities of all the 47,913 workers of the PHCN is planned to be completed today.”
The VP described the response of the private sector to government’s call to invest in the sector as massive.
This, he added, is a clear demonstration of the confidence of investors not only in the potential of the nation but in the government’s commitment to deliver the dividends of democracy in the power sector.
He said the FG was also implementing an extensive programme for the upgrading and expansion of power transmission capacity and called on the banking sector to support in financing power projects in the country.
“The FG through NNPC, the Nigeria Gas company and the private sector, is implementing a robust programme for the realisation of Nigeria gas masterplan with specific interest in meeting the gas-to-power demand in the country at a planned cost of about $8bn.
“Already, $500m out of the $1bn Eurobond would be utilised as counterpart funding for the implementation of this project. This is another opportunity for our bankers to participate,” he added.
He said the FG would, in tandem with the goals and objective of the National Electric Power Policy, continue to improve the efficiency and affordability of power supply.
The VP added that the generation capacity of the power sector is being improved.
He said, “We are investing in improving the generation capacity of this country by the construction of Zungeru hydropower which would add 700 MW at a cost of $1.2bn; the construction of the Mambilla Hydropower plant which would add 3,050 MW and we are utilising $1.7bn from the sale proceed of the NIPP power plant as counterpart funding for this project that would cost $6.4bn.”
