Women protest Facebook's nudity rules with naked photoshoot

Thirty women, covered only with tape, posed naked in a campaign against Facebook’s nudity rules. This idea was born out of rage after Trina Cary, a photographer specialising in nude self-portraits, was banned from Facebook for posting pictures that violated the social media’s nudity policy.

Trina Cary who believes that she is meant to be ‘baring it all to the world’ said the ban troubled her and prevented her from contacting clients for a photoshoot. Tired of seeing violent images and videos of naked men allowed to circulate on Facebook while hers were banned, the photographer decided to stage a protest. She put up a post on Facebook inviting women to join her for a nude photoshoot and to her surprise a number of women showed up.

The women had different reasons for being there, the most common being the need to face their insecurities about their body and build confidence.
“We as women are so frequently told our bodies are dirty, or need to be hidden, or that there is something wrong if we don’t meet certain standards. This is about owning and loving ourselves and about not being complacent when people want to censor us explained that the reason for the photoshoot was to defy facebook and all those who report her photos. One of the women told Metro UK.
Trina explained that the reason for the photoshoot was to defy facebook and all those who report her photos
"These are the images people should see, these are the images your children should look at.Don’t you want your daughter to see a photo of you standing strong and confident, embracing your flaws and laughing with a bunch of women?

Photos: Nigeria Customs seize 20ft container of ready-to-eat Nigerian food imported from India

The Nigeria Custom Service has seized a 20ft container of ready-to-eat Nigerian food imported from India at Tin Can Island Port, Lagos.

The Customs Area Controller, of Tin Can Island Port, Comptroller Bashar Yusuf, handed over a container found to contain 1,395 cartons of ready-to-eat food such as Yam Porridge, Beans Porridge, Egusi Soup etc, to Mr. Udo Ekpo, a Deputy Director of NAFDAC on Monday, November 28th.
Addressing stakeholders at the premises of SDV/SCOA where he handed over the container, the Controller described the scenario as an aberration considering the fact that the Federal Government of Nigeria in her wisdom granted zero duty for the importation of machinery for the packaging of Agricultural products into the country, and wondered why an indigenous menu would be imported into the country at a time when investors are much sought for to boast local Industries.

Speaking further, he charged would be investors to look at the export potentials which abound in the country and take advantage of same for their Socio-Economic benefits.

Life in Prison! - Father jailed for leaving son to die in a hot car while sending sexually explicit messages to women

Justin Ross Harris (pictured) forgot his son, Cooper in his car, went into his office, sent sexually explicit messages to different woman and only realized when he had driven for a few minutes after leaving work.

Harris claims that he forgot to drop his son off at a daycare on June 18, 2014 and didn’t realise he had left the boy strapped into his car seat.

Prosecutors however argued that Harris wanted to be free of family responsibilities. An investigation revealed that he made Internet searches about life without children, how to survive prison and also watched videos of animals dying in cars in the sun. A police detective also revealed that Harris had texted sexually explicit messages to six women, one of them as young as 17, while his son suffocated in the car.
A jury three weeks ago found him guilty of charges including malice murder, cruelty to children and sexual exploitation of children – in reference to the teenage woman he texted. In addition to the life term for the murder charge, Cobb County Superior Court Judge Mary Staley Clark added 32 years for the other crimes.

Harris, who was wearing an orange prison jumpsuit with his hands and ankles shackled, declined to speak at the sentencing. He also did not show any emotion as the sentence was read out. His attorney, Maddox Kilgore, said he planned to file a motion for a new trial.

23-year-old Nigerian entrepreneur turned down job offer from Bill Gates' Microsoft

A 23-year-old Nigerian entrepreneur, Chris Kwekowe turned down a job offer to work as a software engineer at Microsoft, owned by the richest man in the world, Bill Gates, in order to begin his own start-up in Lagos.

The Lagos State University computer science graduate proudly revealed this to Bill Gates during a television interview for Africa’s brightest young entrepreneurs in August 2016.
Kwekowe, who won the 2015 Anzisha Prize which came with a $25,000 cheque, said he rejected the offer to build up his own startup, Slatecube– a website aimed at helping other young Nigerians find jobs.
"When I told him, Gates was intrigued and he smiled. After the programme, all the directors were like, ‘Dude, you mean you actually turned down a job at Microsoft and had the guts to tell Bill Gates?’

Kwekowe founded Slatecube with his brother Emerald, 20, in October 2014. The pair funded their efforts by freelancing as web designers and running a software solutions firm.
He said Slatecube seeks to solve that problem by nurturing the graduates through digital internships and so far, Slatecube has an 80% employment rate for its users. Companies that have used the platform, have saved over $100,000 in 2015 by hiring skilled, ready to work employees.   n a Facebook post published last August, Chris narrated in details of his meeting with Bill Gates:
"Oh yeah, I did meet with Bill Gates in Durban, South Africa where we had some candid discussion about everything - from his involvement with charitable causes in the continent, to how he makes time to be a great father for his kids. My favourite moments were watching his reaction after I told him I turned down job offers from Microsoft and the likes to pursue something more defining for me, and how Africa's development depends more on sustainable investments in innovative social startups like Slatecube that solve some of the continent's biggest problems, rather than donating entirely to charity organisations who end up requiring more financial injection to deal with the minutest of issues. Anyways, we'd be working with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to make our value proposition at Slatecube a pan-African privilege. Soon, you'd rather be in demand across the globe, and engage in companies and projects that make you better, and suits your career goals. Nothing can really be better"
